ISTM Online Learning Program
To expand the reach of the ISTM educational events, the ISTM has established a distance learning program capturing individual sessions from the Travel Medicine and Review Course as well as from the 12th International Conference of the ISTM and have made them available through the internet. Offering more than 60 sessions of video with synchronized slides, and audio with synchronized slides, individual modules range from 30 minutes to four hours. The program includes sessions covering all of the areas in the ISTM Body of Knowledge, and features two Mock Tests to help candidates prepare for the CTH® Examination. Travel Medicine Review and Update Course

This course provides a review of the Body of Knowledge for the Practice of Travel Medicine as well as updates on recent advances in Travel Medicine.
Using a combination of lectures, question and answer sessions and mock tests, the expert faculty will present a curriculum covering topics relevant to physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals who provide medical care and advice to travelers, expatriates and migrants.
Course Description
The Travel Medicine Review and Update course offered by the International Society of Travel Medicine is designed to review the Body of Knowledge for the Practice of Travel Medicine and to highlight recent developments in Travel Medicine. The curriculum will cover topics relevant to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals who provide medical care and advice to travelers, expatriates, and migrants.
The expert faculty will present topics including epidemiology, immunizations, enteric infections, travelers' diarrhea, malaria and other vector-borne disease, environmental exposures, travel clinic management issues, and evaluation of illness in returning travelers. The care of special groups such as pregnant women, pediatric travelers, immigrants, VFR travelers, diabetics, and immunocompromised hosts will be discussed. Recent developments and advances in travelers' diarrhea, immunizations, malaria medications, and emerging infectious diseases will be highlighted.
Participants will have ample opportunity to interact with the faculty through question and answer sessions and informal discussions.
Course Objectives
This course provides a thorough review of the Body of Knowledge for the practice of Travel Medicine to assist in preparation for the CTH® Examination. The course also provides a comprehensive update on recent advances in Travel Medicine. At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:
- Describe the current epidemiology of common health risks affecting travelers
- Choose which travelers should receive vaccines relevant for travel
- Discuss the prevention and self-treatment of common travel-related illnesses such as travelers' diarrhea
- Identify current malaria epidemiology and discuss chemoprophylaxis regimens
- Advise travelers on the prevention of disease, including being able to advise pregnant women, pediatric travelers, immigrants, VFR travelers, diabetics, and immunocompromised hosts
- Recognize illness in travelers returning from overseas travel

Course Tuition and Refund Policy
The following fees apply for the 2012 course for persons in the different classes listed. The ISTM Member Early Registration is only available to those with current 2011 ISTM memberships. Register early because course capacity may be limited. Those registering after the course is filled will be placed on a waiting list.
ISTM members must log in to their member account to receive the member discount on registration fees. Other registrants will be required to create or log in to their ISTM customer account to register for the course.

Registration Fee Inclusions
The registration fees include admittance to the course, continuing education application fees, the course materials and refreshment breaks. Speaker presentations will be available online prior to the meeting for printing and use of the registrants. For those registering on site, a CD of the presentations will be provided.

Cancellation
We hope you will be able to attend once registered for the course. If you must cancel, notice of cancellation must be received by the ISTM Secretariat (contact information below) in writing by 5 February 2012, and is subject to a USD 25 administrative fee. No refunds for cancellations will be made after 5 February 2012.

Force Majeure
The ISTM reserves the right to cancel the course without notice or compensation in the case of an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the control of the ISTM, such as a war, terrorist attacks, riot, crime or an event described as an "act of God" (e.g. earthquake, fire, flooding, breakout of disease, tornado). In such cases the ISTM is free of all responsibility because of such an incident. In the event of it being impossible for the course to take place due to force majeure cases, so long as it arises from a cause not attributable to the ISTM, the ISTM shall only be obliged to reimburse the payments received subject to the deduction of any costs it has incurred in preparation for the course. This liability only extends to payments made directly to the course and not to payments made by the delegates to hotels or airlines.
