International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases (ICEID), March 16-19, 2008. Atlanta, Georgia, USA. ICEID brings together public health and related professionals to encourage the exchange of scientific and public health information on global emerging infectious disease issues. The Alberta Association of Travel Health Professionals 12th Annual Travel Health Conference, June 13th and 14th, 2008 in Kananaskis, Alberta. The Royal College of Nursing (UK) Travel Health Forum Annual conference and exhibition "Footprints around the world". 25 September 2008 Royal College of Physicians London. This conference is aimed at all health professionals involved in the field of travel medicine and this year is focusing on environmental issues and travel. Topics include travel and expeditions to extreme environments, which will also address group behaviour and stress. A military physician who took part in the recent Caudwell Xtreme Everest Project will discuss the research undertaken on this expedition. The South African Society of Travel Medicine: Travel medicine in Africa. October 3 - 7, Zanzibar, Ocean Paradise Resort Hotel. This Conference will offer an unrivalled experience with a stimulating academic programme covering aspects of travel medicine and infectious diseases, aviation and dive medicine. Topics covered include HIV, dive medicine incidents, evacuation problems, malaria, the impact of travel on chronic diseases, and the stress factor in travel as well as workshops. Includes individual on-site bedside teaching, laboratory manuals (hands-on microscopy on parasites in the blood, stool and urine), field excursions and lectures. The curriculum covers the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of the most important tropical infectious diseases.
