Inventory of the Means of Controlling Communicable Diseases in the European Union, Norway and Sweden

Directorate General V of the European Commission has now published the Inventory of the Means of Controlling Communicable Diseases in the European Union, Norway and Switzerland. This is the result of a project undertaken by the European surveillance centres under the leadership of Stefania Salmaso from the Laboratorio di Epidemiologia e Biostatistica, Instituto Superiore di Sanità, Rome. The objectives of the project were to describe and analyse how communicable disease monitoring and control is organised, describe the epidemiological and microbiological expertise in the management of highly contagious serious infections, document current research and describe contacts between European Union (EU) member states and countries outside the EU. The inventory has been published in booklet summary form and on CD-ROM.
