Scientific analysis of risks relating to communicable diseases related to tourism and travel

The Scottish Centre for Infection and Environmental Health is pleased to announce its successful application to Directorate General V of the European Commission for a project on travel health. The objective is to provide a detailed inventory of arrangements in place for providing advice to travellers in the European Union (EU) member states, and to consider how networks could be established within the EU to improve surveillance of travel related illness and the provision of advice for travellers. SCIEH will be taking a lead role in close collaboration with La Société de Médecine des Voyages (SMV), Paris, France. The project steering group will comprise experts from the UK, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands and Sweden, and further collaborators have been identified in the other EU member countries.
