Certificate of Knowledge in Travel Medicine Examination Update May 2002 Question Writing Drive Underway: The question writing drive for the Certificate of Knowledge Examination is underway. The Examination Committee has received over 400 questions thus far. The goal is 500 questions. The Exam Committee will review all questions and 200 questions will be selected for use on the examination. The Examination Committee Co-chairs, Drs. Phyllis Kozarsky, Jay Keystone, Robert Steffen, and Francesco Castelli would like to thank everyone who has participated in the question writing process. Dr. Keystone acknowledged, "Without the talent, dedication and energy put forth by the question writers, this exam would not be possible. It takes a tremendous amount of time and thought to write good exam questions. We really value the contributions of this group." First Examination Committee Meeting Set: The first face-to-face meeting of the Examination Committee will take place May 30- 31 in Atlanta. The group will come together to review the examination questions and discuss strategy. "We eagerly anticipate this meeting and look forward to welcoming everyone to Atlanta. We are pleased to have such a hard-working and skilled group of experts committed to establishing this exam as the first internationally recognized credential in the field of Travel Medicine," stated Dr. Kozarsky. The Marriott Marquis is also the site of the 8th CISTM is being held May 7-11, 2003. Body of Knowledge: The Body of Knowledge is being published in the March/April issue of the Journal of Travel Medicine. It can be found on pages 112-115. It has also been posted on the ISTM website (www.istm.org). You will find it by selecting "Travel Med. Exam" from the left-hand menu on the home page. Eligibility: We would remind everyone that the exam is open to all licensed travel medicine practitioners including nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and physician's assistants. Both ISTM members and non-members are eligible to participate.
