What is a CanTravNet Core Site?

CanTravNet Sites are clinical sites participating in the GeoSentinel network as full surveillance sites in Canada, who participate in the surveillance, monitoring, and reporting of all travel-related illness at their site. Epidemiologic data including exposure information and diagnoses are submitted in nearly real time to a central database. The data is analyzed on a regular basis to monitor unusual trends. Several types of illnesses called "alarming diagnoses" generate immediate notification of program managers, who will initiate an investigation if appropriate. Information on how to become a GeoSentinel surveillance site is available at the GeoSentinel website.
