Biography
Missy Zagroba is a seasoned nonprofit executive with over 11 years of experience leading medical membership organizations, most recently serving as Executive Director for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM). In that role, she oversaw a $3.5 million budget, led a staff team, and ensured high-impact programming for more than 8,000 members.
Missy’s expertise spans strategic planning, financial management, partnership development, fundraising, and continuing medical education (CME) compliance. She has successfully managed major events such as the Scientific Assembly and the Mediterranean Emergency Medicine Congress and maintains strong collaborations with journal publishers and editorial boards.
Her prior leadership roles with the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the Clinical Immunology Society highlight her ability to guide organizational transitions, secure funding, and navigate complex accreditation processes. Missy also brings hospitality management experience from prestigious venues like The American Club and The Watergate Hotel.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Native American Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and is a Certified Association Executive (CAE). Missy is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Wisconsin Society of Association Executives (WASE).
