Registration Rates – New for CISTM20

ISTM is implementing a tiered registration pricing model based on World Bank country income classifications.

This approach reflects ISTM’s global mission and commitment to equitable access, inclusion and participation across the travel medicine community worldwide. By aligning registration rates with World Bank income categories, we aim to reduce financial barriers while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the conference.

How It Works
Registration fees are determined by the World Bank income classification of the country where you live and work, using the most recent World Bank classifications:

  • Tier I: High-Income Countries
  • Tier II: Upper-Middle-Income Countries
  • Tier III: Lower-Middle-Income Countries
  • Tier IV: Low-Income Countries
  • Tier V: Host Country-Thailand

Each category has a corresponding registration rate, applied consistently across all attendee types.

Why ISTM Is Using This Model

  • Supports broader global participation in CISTM
  • Promotes fairness and accessibility across diverse economic settings
  • Aligns with ISTM’s role as a truly international professional society
  • Helps ensure that cost is not a barrier to advancing travel-health education and collaboration

Important Notes

  • World Bank classifications are reviewed annually and are applied uniformly.
  • Attendees are expected to register under the category that accurately reflects their country of residence and employment.
  • Misclassification may result in adjustment of registration fees.
  • All registration fees for CISTM20 are listed and collected in U.S. Dollars (USD). Any applicable currency conversion or processing fees are the responsibility of the registrant and are determined by the registrant’s financial institution.

⚠️ Stay Vigilant: How to Identify CISTM20 Scams

ISTM has been alerted to email scams related to CISTM20 registration, travel and sponsorship that appear to come from ISTM Professional Staff or Board Members. The messages appear legitimate, making it easy to overlook the sender’s real email address and mistakenly assume authenticity. Unfortunately, this type of scam is widespread across many organizations and industries, and not unique to ISTM.

How can I tell if an email is legitimate?
All official CISTM20 and ISTM communications will only come from an email address ending in @istm.org. ISTM will never request sensitive personal or financial information via unsolicited email.

Official CISTM20 information, including registration and hotel booking links can be found on our CISTM20 event webpages. Registration is only available on the ISTM website and is not offered through any third party.

What should I be cautious of?
Some scam emails appear highly professional and may come from deceptive domains such as “@execs.com” or similar addresses. Always check the sender’s full email address carefully.

Hover over links to inspect the URL before taking any action. Look for typos or strange phrasing. Poor grammar used to be a giveaway, though this is less common with AI-generated scams.

What should I do if I receive a suspicious email?
Do not respond, click links, call, provide any personal or payment information. We recommend deleting the message, reporting it as spam/phishing to your email provider or IT support and reporting it to ISTM.

Who should I contact if I’m unsure about an email?
If you are uncertain whether a message is legitimate, please contact ISTM directly before taking any action.
